Night of 10/19/08

Dream -

The start and finish of this dream feels almost nonexistent. There were three main points though that I feel like I need to mention, as they were the strongest scenes out of the entire dream.

The first scene was like something out of the video game Silent Hill. It's the only video game that my friend and I have been playing over the past month or two, so scenes and characters have been in my head, not to mention in conversation between us. But the scene itself was dark, dreary, and reminded me of an old grainy photograph. I was with my friend Ashlee who was the one I've been playing the games with. In this place, wherever we were, she left for a moment to head to the other side of the room, and I was stuck sitting in this chair by what appeared like a corpse hanging from the ceiling. Though it was a corpse, I didn't get a strange feeling, nor was it grotesque or gory. To be honest, I barely noticed it because I was hiding.

Coming out from the darkness was pyramid head, one of the monsters from Silent Hill that the game seems to be known for. But the thing was, he seemed like a cross between the butcher from Silent Hill Origins and pyramid head from Silent Hill II. His head armor seemed shrunk, and his body was more stout and bulky than tall and muscular. Around his waist though was the same material pyramid head wore in the games though, which seemed reminiscent to leather or flesh. And instead of carrying a large heavy sword, he had some kind of pole arm that looked similar to a pilum or halberd.

He came into the scene and my friend was no where to be found. I was stuck hiding in this chair, and in my head, I seemed to have pulled up the gaming knowledge that pyramid head never actually harms the game player, but rather the other people around them. So I stayed still, hoping that it would still be true in this dream, and I watched as he took the corpse down from the ceiling. In that moment, he saw me hiding in the chair and went to stab me with his blade. Somehow, and I don't understand how, I put up my arms and blocked the blade from hitting me as if I was suddenly made of metal. Sparks flew and he doubled back with the corpse in hand. I took off running in the other direction to find Ashlee and wound up spilling to her all of what happened.

The second part of my dream was after the encounter with pyramid head/the butcher. Ashlee and I went running out and I believe we came out on some kind of rooftop. It was nighttime and the sky seemed dreary. There were city lights I believe, all over the background and glowing brightly, but even so, it didn't make the dream anymore positive. I found my friend Wen then, and another large group of people that I believe must have been from my art classes. We all seemed to need to run away from someone or something, and Wen told us to go down the fire escape to reach the floor of the building.

The only thing was that the fire escape was in the center of the building, and went down in a spiral. The strangest part of all was that when all of us walked on it, the material of the staircases became flexible and pliable. It bent underneath our weight and even bounced us a little as we tried climbing to the bottom.

When we finally made it, I met up with people from my classes, though I cannot tell who they were exactly. All I remember though is that I was in trouble for not having work done for my Drawing I class, though the teacher was Bonnie Hayes from my scandalous pictures class. She was really angry at me and yelled at me to hand in my drawings, one of them being that of a bookshelf. The other may have been the contour practice with a plant, but then again, I don't remember very well.

All that I do remember though is that I went searching through these piles of papers to for my homework. I grew more frantic when I couldn't find my work in the pile to hand in, and I remember pacing the room and trying to figure out if it was the drawing of a bookshelf or a duffle bag that I needed to hand in. I didn't want to talk to the teacher either for fear of being scolded again.
My dream ended there.
