What good is a blog without pictures? Here are some things I’ve knit and some that are in progress…
This was my first project, a swatch scarf for my friend’s 18th birthday. The yarn is from a yarn shop I visited when I went to Germany. Completed in less then a week the swatches include some basketweave, garter stitch, seed stitch, and a very simple cable. Completed early September 2006

This was the second of a cable tote pattern somewhat of my own design for another friend’s 18th birthday. The cable pattern is from “Cables Untangled” by Melissa Leapman, intended for a throw rug. Let me tell you, lots of work just to be stepped on. The the solid blue yarn is elle rae, the handles I forget what type of yarn they were. Its hard to tell from the picture but the handles are actually cabled as well. Completed February 2006.

This is a sweater I’m working on for my mom. The yarn is Debbie Bliss cotton cashmere and its a Melissa Leapman pattern from the book “Hot Knits". Switching on and off between this sweater and a cotton cami for myself (will show pictures at a later date). Needs to be finished by August for the family vacation up to the beach in Massachusetts.

I’ve seen some other knitting blogs before, so I decided to start my own. Here is a little info about my history knitting.
My name is Renate but my family has a tendency to call me “Ster” (as in the Ren-ster), hence the blog name. I first started knitting around August 2006, so I haven’t even been knitting for quite a year now but I have deffinitely made some strides in these past 10 or so months. So far I have knitted a lot of accessories (gloves, mittens, scarves, bags, cabled tote bags of my own design) but in the past couple months I have been working on some garments (sweaters and a camisole) that are all a bit past the half-way mark. I have yet to knit a sock, though I have casted on for some, but would like to knit atleast one pair at some point in time. Oh yea, I will be 18 this fall but will have my Associates Degree in General Studies on August, I guess you could say I’m quite the kid. I am finishing up my last two classes for my degree this summer online which has unfortunately been interfering with my knitting. But we all have our priorities… ![]()
I am new to this site but will hopefully be able to figure out the pictures and layout relatively easily so please be patient.
